The Joseph & Alma Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies at the University of Maryland is the editorial home of the Israel Studies Review: An Interdisciplinary Journal. As of 2018 it appears three times per year.
The journal operates under the editorship of Yoram Peri, Abraham S. & Jack Kay Chair in Israel Studies and former Director of the Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies. Paul Scham, Associate Research Professor of Israel Studies and Director of the Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies, serves as co-Editor.
The Israel Studies Review (ISR) is the official journal of the Association for Israel Studies, an international and interdisciplinary scholarly organization dedicated to the study of all aspects of Israeli society, history, politics, and culture.
The ISR explores modern and contemporary Israel from the perspective of the social sciences, history, the humanities, and cultural studies and welcomes submissions on these subjects. The journal also pays close attention to the relationships of Israel to the Middle East and to the wider world, and encourages scholarly articles with this broader theoretical or comparative approach provided the focus remains on modern Israel.
